Mogwai, who recently announced that they are doing the soundtrack for Hudson River Project, have just released the song “Earth Division” for streaming from the upcoming Occupy This Album which also features Anti Flag, Ladytron, and Third Eye Blind. Because they’re still around, apparently.
While Mogwai is more or less the AC/DC of slow build instrumental tracks at this point in their career, what they do, they do exceptionally well. “Earth Division” is a solid track throughout its six-minute runtime. No real surprises to be found, just thundering bass, effectively minimalist pianos, and a build that seems to go on forever.
